Flowers have long been an inspiration for art, with Van Gogh's name always the first to be mentioned, but now there's a new name on the block who's taking floral art to the next level.

The artist

Singapore-based Malaysian artists Lim Zhi Wei uses fresh blooms to bring sketches and paintings to life. Known as Limzy, the former art teacher shares her work on Instagram where the response is incredible. Her creations regularly get over 5,000 likes from fans all around the world, bringing this new take on floral art to a huge audience.

Using flowers as part of the picture

Limzy's designs take inspiration from all walks of life. From nature to timely events such as the final four country's flags at the World Cup or Lupita Nyong'o's dress at the Oscars, each design is enhanced by the flower head or petals to add another dimension.

A variety of blooms

Looking through Limzy's portfolio, Roses seem to be the most popular flower for the designs, but there really is a wide variety with everything from wedding dresses made from Calla Lilies to the Instagram logo made from Sunflowers.
