The Nation's #FavouriteFlower is...the Rose!

As voted for by you in our nationwide survey

Four weeks ago we launched a nationwide survey in collaboration with the Metro to find out the UK’s #FavouriteFlower.

It may come as no surprise that 27% of you voted for the rose as your #FavouriteFlower, with a whopping 45% of you saying you'd like to receive it more often. In second place came the lily, with the tulip and carnation joint third.

The world’s most traded flower, 9 billion roses change hands each year in Europe and is a firm celebrity favourite as demonstrated by Harry Styles who reportedly sent Taylor Swift 1989 stems to mark her album, 1989. We know that they are the symbol of romance, but what is it specifically about the rose that we love so much? The colour of the bloom is most important for rose lovers – 85% say it is important – followed by scent (67%) and finally, shape (54%). With more than 1,000 varieties available, we are certainly spoiled for choice!

A gang of hunks were staged at London Waterloo, Victoria, Liverpool Street, Glasgow, Manchester Piccadilly, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham stations on Friday 30 October to mark the end of our #Favouriteflower campaign.  They were handing out the Nation's Favourite Flower, roses, across the country, brightening up the day of commuters on a dull, rainy day. Did you manage to pick one up for you or someone you love?
