DIY: Corsage pin

How to make this season’s freshest flower accessory

Flowers are a perennial favourite on the catwalks – as well as using beautiful floral prints, this year, it’s about using real, fresh flowers to create beautiful, unique accessories.

This simple, single-flower corsage can be pinned to bags, belts, dresses and jacket lapels to add an instant touch of femininity to any outfit – whether it’s for a lunch date or a lavish wedding.

And you don’t need to be a craft whizz to make it. This is minimum effort for maximum impact.

FRESH FLOWER PIN

What you’ll need

  • A flower (peonies or globular chrysanthemums work well)
  • Florist tape
  • Florist wire
  • A safety pin
  • Wire cutters
  • Secateurs

How to make it

  1. Trim the stem about 3cm below the flower head.
  2. Thread a 30cm length of wire horizontally through the stem, just below the base.
  3. Fold the wire in half downwards so it sits either side of – and parallel to – the stem.
  4. Wrap a strip of florist tape tightly around the wire, starting at the top.
  5. Snip the taped wire about 2cm below the flower head.
  6. Use a small piece of florist tape to attach a safety pin to the stem.
  7. Attach to your outfit!
