The passion of the men behind The Wunderkammer

Florian and Ueli’s creative brain

They create beautiful homes around the world, dress weddings and conjure up amazing artworks. Anyone who gets a glimpse of their work is instantly uplifted, but who are Florian Seyd and Ueli Signer? How do they think? Let’s visit the men themselves to find out how Florian and Ueli create remarkable collections of flowers, plants, shells, stones etc.

Jacks of all trades

These creative guys are called upon for the most diverse projects. The challenge is therefore to come up with a different Wunderkammer touch every time. From dressing weddings in Saint Tropez and Ibiza to planting a small garden, it’s a massive creative challenge every time.

Pop up shop

The men work on a constant succession of international projects. Unfortunately for us, that means that they have no shop; Florian and Ueli want to feel free to go and work wherever they want. However, the guys do enjoy the ritual of welcoming customers in their own shop, so they make sure to do it from time to time! The botanical artists exhibit twice a year, and they also open a Shop for a Week, for which they select a theme from nature.

Constantly discovering

The men include nature as one of their biggest sources of inspiration and they  are constantly discovering new things. Florian: ‘Because we travel a great deal, we also see a lot. It can be a colour transition or a flaked piece of wood, a sunset or a museum that we visit: we can really find something that inspires us anywhere.’

Hand in glove

Florian: ‘When we discuss something, I might think of red and Ueli might think of purple, which brings us to blue. A refinement of the initial thoughts. We have known one another for a long time and intimately, but when it comes down to it we still think differently. That provides us with a twist which makes the end product more fun.’

Ueli is very technically skilled and Florian’s knowledge of flowers and plants is almost inexhaustible. This enables them to bring even greater depth to their projects and execute them perfectly.

Florian: ‘Occasionally I get a bit irritated because Ueli is doing something slightly differently from what we’ve agreed. But I soon see that it’s another way of looking at or approaching something. We talk it over and that helps us progress. It does make our work exciting.’

Source of inspiration

The men behind The Wunderkammer see the magic in every flower, every leaf, every stone, and every part of what we see in nature every day. Insignificant everyday items are thereby suddenly transformed into beautifully detailed works of art. Be inspired by their way of working and seeing!
