The DIY ombre vase you can make in 10 minutes

Bye-bye dip-dye, hola ombre!

If you loved last season’s trend for dip-dyed vases and homewares, you’ll love its new seasonal update. Like dip-dye, ombre works on the principle of covering just the bottom of the vase with colour – but by using spray paint instead of dipping the vase in paint, the clean line is replaced by a subtle gradation of colour.

Bang on trend

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you’ll be familiar with this effect from the ombre hair trend that had A-listers and fashionistas clamouring for the bleach. And now your blooms can look as fresh as your tresses.

We love this DIY take on the look from The Crafted Life blog. It looks like something you would expect to pick up in a high-end homeware shop – but costs less than £10 and 10 minutes to make.

Offset a vibrant pink paint job with a couple of GerberaCarnation or Chrysanthemum stems in contrasting colours.

What you’ll need:

  • Spray paint
  • Glass bottle
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Warm water
  • Latex gloves & newspaper to protect you and your surroundings!
