Orchid colours

Yes, you have read it right: the colour has been given the name orchid. The orchid is of course, beautiful and comes in many colours, from powdery pastels to candy pink and zen white. There is even one with a tiger print. With its wide colour palette it’s not surprising- but very special of course – that this purple orchid colour is setting the tone this year.

Attractive charm

Leactrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® says: “Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination.” An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society. The colour inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that attracts you with its charm, according to Leactrice Eiseman.

Selection of PANTONE colour

To come to the colour of the year selection, Pantone literally roams the world, looking for colour influences. They look at the entertainment industry, films which are being produced at the moment, art collections, upcoming artists, popular travel destinations and other social and economic situations. They also look at technology, availability of new textures and effects which are of influence, even upcoming worldwide sports events. The colour is therefore chosen with the greatest of care.

Radiant Orchid in your home

This colour of the year is flexible and easy to use in your home. It is a lively colour, which combines really well in your interior with olive and deeper hunter green. Other colours such as turquoise, deep blue-green and even light yellow look great in combination with Radiant Orchid. Do you have neutral colours in your home such as grey, beige or taupe? Add Radiant Orchid and you will see that the space will come alive, without it being overwhelming.

Also on the red carpet

The colour was already spotted during the spring 2014 fashion shows and knows its way around the red carpet. The fashion and beauty industry also find it an attractive tint for distinctive combinations of warm and cool colours and flattering for many eye, skin and hair colours.

Purple radiates

In 2014, don’t miss out on the orchid you see in the photo. Fill a beautiful vase with these or other beautiful purple orchids and be enchanted by the colour that determines and radiates this year.
