On its own, but still together

Steal the show with this home-made gerbera creation

A gerbera is lovely on its own. But it also steals the show in a group. This craft project won’t leave you in any doubt about that! Start by collecting plastic bottles. Once you've got a nice selection, give them a concrete look, place them together and fill each one with one or two gerberas. The result is a fantastic stark look!

DIY gerbera creation

Give your room extra flair with this eye-catching gerbera creation, and create the fabulous concrete look yourself. This is what you need:

  • Various plastic bottles

  • Bag concrete from a hardware store
  • Test tubes, easily available online
  • Various types of gerbera in your favourite colours

How to make it

Step 1: Gather plastic bottles in all sorts of shapes and sizes and cut the top of the bottle.

Step 2: Mix the concrete according to the instructions for use, and pouring the cement with the aid of a funnel into the bottles. Shake the bottle gently so that no air is trapped between the casting.

Step 3: Put a test tube in the neck of the bottle and place something heavy on it, so that the tube is firmly clamped, as the concrete can push out the tube while it's still setting.

Step 4: Wait until the concrete is dry. You notice by squeezing the bottle and that it stops moving. It takes a about a day.

Step 5: Make a small incision in the plastic with a sharp knife and "peel" off your plastic bottle of the concrete cylinder.

Step 6: Place one or two gerberas in each jar or bottle, group everything in a way that appeals to you and enjoy the view!
