DIY: A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO THE BORING LAVENDER BAG

Make your home smell of roses and sunflowers

You’ve probably come across them: small bars of soap in sickly pink packaging. Made for hiding between clothing that could do with a floral boost. But there’s a better way to do it. Get stuck into this simple craft project and make fragrance bags that are really too beautiful and too delectable to hide them amongst your ski suits and seasonal blankets.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Baking parchment
  • Rose essential oil
  • Dried rose petals and sunflower petals
  • Muffin baking tray

GET TO WORK

Mix the baking soda with the water. Take a spoonful of this mixture and pour it into a muffin mould lined with baking parchment. Repeat this until all the moulds are full. Place the baking tray in the oven at 350 °C and leave for 20 minutes. The discs should then be dry and firm.

After they have cooled, sprinkle the discs with four drops of rose essential oil each. Then scatter them with the dried petals. Your fragrance discs are now ready to smell delicious. Because they’re lovely to look at, give them the prominent spot in your home, such as on the table, in the bathroom or on your bedside cabinet. Where will you put yours?
