Hydrangea dress as work of art

The American artist Catherine Latson loves to work with organic material and takes her inspiration from designs, structures and colours found in nature. She also has a fascination for old textiles, such as dresses and corsets. This has resulted in the Garment Series, a series of clothing objects, all made from natural material such as flowers and plants. The Hydrangea Dress is one of them. The dress is made from the delicate blue/purple petals of the hydrangea on a cheesecloth background.

Hydrangea Dress: To admire, but not to wear

Catherine’s romantic hydrangea dress has not been made to wear, the material is too fragile for that, but you could hang the dress in a frame and enjoy it forever. Are you interested in what else the artist has made? On Catherine Latson’s website you will find under Galleries > Garment Series, many more objects made from flowers and plants.
